Film Education in Libraries

Curator & Producer

Oct 2016 - Mar 2017

Commissioned by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) to curate and present four archive film events, each bespoke to the local communities of the public libraries across Scotland in which they screened during Spring 2017: Girvan, Wester Hailes (Edinburgh), Midlothian and Stornoway (Western Isles). Also providing librarians with training to offer archive film screenings alongside regular Film Club activity.

The series of 'The Library Presents... A Kind of Seeing' events are funded by Film Hub Scotland and are part of pilot projects being run in Scotland under the Film Education in Libraries Project. The £190,000 initiative was made possible through Creative Scotland as part of their Film Strategy and aims to improve the provision of film and moving image education across the country.

The project has enabled the purchase of high quality film presentation equipment, turning local community libraries into pop-up communal cinema spaces.
