Curator

Oct 2016 - Jan 2017

"An immersive experience in a gorgeous space which exemplified Scot:Lands living up to its potential"
★★★★ The Scotsman

Honoured to curate and conceive THIS:LAND, one of the prestigious Scot:Lands - the unique annual festival within a festival that took place on Sunday 1 January 2017 across nine remarkable and surprising spaces in the Old Town of Edinburgh as part of the world famous Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.

THIS:LAND welcomed about 1,700 people in to The Playfair Library of the University of Edinburgh - a suitably grand location for a celebration of Scotland’s celluloid past, exploring our national film collections, revealing dramatic land and seascape, forgotten streets and inspiring life stories.  In a bold and innovative programming move, organisers Unique Events keep all the venues secret until the day, encouraging visitors to be randomly allocated 'Lands' to visit so trying something new from the diverse and eclectic programme.

As well as headphone + screen installation experiences with specially curated film programmes from all corners of Scotland, audiences relaxed in deckchairs watching ground-breaking documentaries accompanied by superb live music scores, from the radical folk tradition by Drew Wright and Hamish Brown commissioned by Glasgow Short Film Festival, to the astonishing beatboxing of Jason Singh.
