Made in My Toun

Curator & Producer

Jun 2015 - Mar 2016

Building on my programming work at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Made in My Toun was a Scotland-wide tour of archive film screenings featuring special guests exploring what our towns and cities mean to us today.

On each stop of the nine-date tour, I curated and presented a unique selection of rare films from the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive about Scotland and the toun where the event is taking place.  The tour was funded by BFI Britain on Film, a major digitisation project unlocking the UK’s film history, and delivered in partnership with Film Hub Scotland.

Screenings were complemented by a post-event ‘blether’ with special guests: local and archive filmmakers, local historians, and experts in urban studies. The result was a series of fascinating discussions with audiences engaging and interacting with the films on screen.  Made in My Toun toured to:

Macrobert Arts Centre, STIRLING ★ Inverness Film Festival, Eden Court, INVERNESS ★ Dundee Contemporary Arts, DUNDEE ★ Belmont Filmhouse, ABERDEEN ★ The New Picture House, ST ANDREWS ★ Waterfront Cinema, GREENOCK ★ Howden Park Centre, LIVINGSTON ★ Ayr Film Society, Ayr Town Hall, AYR ★ University of the West of Scotland, PAISLEY
